Jazz In The Valley / @transartny present The TransArt Ensemble, Sat July 8th at Opus 40! This highly collaborative group brings a unique voice to the jazz idiom marrying deeply-rooted rhythms of the African diaspora with modern composition and an unparalleled improvisational prowess! Fans of hard bop, spiritual jazz, and progressive soul will not want to miss this!
The ensemble includes trombonist and composer Craig Harris (Sun Ra, co-composer of film score for Judas and the Black Messiah), vocalist/pianist Mala Waldron, bassist Christopher Dean Sullivan, and Baba Neil Clarke. TransArt is a Kingston-based cultural organization offering a youth summer program, upcoming podcast ‘The Shed’ and producers of the Jazz In The Valley festival happening Aug 20th on the Poughkeepsie waterfront.
Old Soul jazz club. Immersive space where live music, lighting, and culinary experience using your ears, sight, taste, and smell senses, to elevate the spirit. This will be a debut performance for Mala Waldron & SOULFUL SOUND - the group features Steve Salerno (gtr), Marcus McLaurine (bass) & Michael T.A. Thompson (drums) - the group having performed, recorded and toured for over twenty years with is a joy to watch & experience.
